Rose-Ringed Parakeets are an escaped cage bird that is now well established on several Hawaiian Islands, and they are considered an invasive species. Originally from Africa and India, they are now found in many tropical locations. They are ubiquitous in urban Honolulu and can always be seen in the high treetops on the Iolani Palace grounds. I have never seen a Rose-Ringed Parakeet on the ground.
Poinciana Trees, also called Flame Trees, are originally from Madagascar though they are now common in most tropical locations. They thrive in Hawaii. Their bright orange blossoms increase throughout the summer as the trees gradually change from green to orange.
