The ARM Cuauhtemoc is a training ship in the Mexican Navy that visits Honolulu Harbor periodically. This painting captures a 2002 visit; it was last here in 2017.
The ARM Cuauhtemoc is named after the last Aztec ruler of Tenochtitlan (now Mexico City), the center of the Aztec empire. Emperor Cuauahtemoc was captured and executed by the Spanish conquistadors in 1525.
